Manly Rd Greener Suburbs Project

In late 2021, Council announced two Greener Suburbs projects along Manly Rd at its intersections with Greencamp Rd and Hargreaves Rd.

These programs aim to impove the clean, green feel of locations across Brisbane through increased tree planting and landscaping.

It certainly adds to the character of neighboring Wakerley and the eastside as the program continues to move into more suburbs.

Kerbside collection dates 2022 (outdated)

Everyone’s favourite time of the year has returned a year ahead of schedule - Kerbside collection is back in Chandler Ward, starting in mid-February.

The schedule can be found in the photo above or alternatively at the bottom of this article as well as some quick collection guidelines and acceptable items list.

For those that are new or are unfamiliar with kerbside collection, it’s Council’s large item collection service (like TV’s, fridges, you name it!) that gathers unwanted household items that are often too big for wheelie bins (and too hard to take to the tip).

Court decision on Greendale Village Shopping Centre

The site of the proposed Greendale Village Shopping Centre sat almost dormant for thirteen years until June this year when vegetation was cleared and boundary fencing was erected around the site.

After many extensions, an appeal and subsequent court order, the development has been granted a further 2 year extension to start construction on the site.

Hopefully in the coming months construction will start and by the end of 2023, Carindale residents will have a new local shopping centre to call their own.

Koala habitat restoration underway in Mansfield

Residents in Mansfield may have recently noticed works being conducted on the embankment of Stan Fraser Oval inside Tillack Park.

The state of this embankment has been an issue for residents for some time now. It was overgrown, dangerous and unsightly especially for all those using the Bulimba Creek Bikeway through the park.

I’m happy to say that after raising the issue with Council and liaising with local residents, the embankment is being given a makeover.
