The old Westfield Carindale Sizzler site is finally seeing a revamp

After sitting untouched for over three years, the former Sizzler restaurant that sits on the edge of Westfield Carindale at the corner of Creek Road and Winstanley Street is finally set for an overhaul.

A development application for the site was submitted to the Brisbane City Council on December 22, 2021, to transform the abandoned building into a doggy daycare and training facility.

It’s about time this eyesore was restored to something that can actually be used by the local community.

A dog-minding and training facility may not be what people had in mind for the site, with popular suggestions of it being redeveloped into a café or beer garden. However, this just goes to show the booming market for pet services in Brisbane’s eastern suburbs.

Everyone may now be saying that they want Sizzler to return, but the matter of the fact is that people liked the idea of being able to go Sizzler whilst visiting just once a year at maximum. This activity was not sustainable and needed a dire refresh.

Although Council has not yet made a decision regarding the development application, I look forward to seeing the released designs during later stages of this promising development.

Further information regarding application details can be found here.
