Chelsea and Rickertt Rd Update - November 2021

The Chelsea Rd and Rickertt Rd upgrade is progressing incredibly well, with 75% now complete on the intersection and over 80% of the Wakerley Bikeway complete.

The inbound lane has been completed and the outbound lane is now starting to receive works.

This upgrade will see many benefits for the community such as:

  • Safe, controlled right turns out of Chelsea Rd into Rickertt Rd

  • Improved connections for walkers and riders between the Wynnum Esplanade and Wakerley

  • Better flood resilience and improved drainage

  • Future proofing the corridor for eventual duplication of the road connecting Brisbane to Redlands

Despite the week lost due to wet-weather, the project is still on track to open mid-December and in time for Christmas.

A massive thank you to Federal Member Ross Vasta MP for contributing $6 million to this Schrinner Council project through the Urban Congestion Fund. It is with the support of the Morrison administration and members like Ross that Council is able to deliver so many great projects to the local community.
