Chelsea and Rickertt Rd intersection upgrade completed

Chelsea & Rickertt Rd intersection

I am so pleased to announce the completion of the Rickertt and Chelsea Rd intersection upgrade in Ransome!

After too many accidents over the years, Council heard the public’s call for a much-needed changes to the intersection that were officially completed with the Lord Mayor turning on the traffic signals earlier last month.

These upgrades include:

  • installing traffic signals at the intersection

  • widening Rickertt Rd to create two through lanes in each direction

  • constructing right-turn lanes on all four intersection approaches

  • installing signalised crossing facilities on Rickertt and Chelsea Rd for pedestrians and cyclists

The Wakerley Bikeway Project

Not only this, but a section of the Wakerley Bikeway project was also completed with a new shared path forming a connection from the intersection of Green Camp Rd and Rickertt Rd, to the intersection of Chelsea Rd and Rickertt Rd.

This aspect of the upgrade included:

  • constructing a 2.5 metre-wide shared pedestrian and cycle path

  • installing way-finding signage on the shared path

  • constructing a bridge over the watercourse at Lota Creek

Active transport users have already provided Council with their thanks for the improved connectivity this change has made to their cycling routes.
