Bridgnorth St Park upgrade starting soon

The final plans for Bridgnorth St Park

I’m happy to announce that the upgrade of Bridgnorth St Park is around the corner, with a construction start date of the 24th of January, 2022 weather permitting.

I certainly apologise for the delay that occurred due to global supply chain issues related to the shipping industry; however, the good news is that now both stages of the upgrade will be delivered at the same time.

The contract for construction was awarded last month, with the designs being finalised after input from community consultation.

As a result of feedback received from the survey I conducted last year, Council has been able to include a new flying fox and an outdoor gym with shade sails.

The waste and recycling bins have also been shifted from the south of the park closer to the park’s facilities in an effort to encourage good waste habits.

I was hopeful that this upgrade could be delivered by Christmas, however, it was decided that rather than close the park down over the Christmas holidays, it would be preferable to start works once the local kids had returned to school in the new year.

The upgrade includes:

  • A new garden bed (on the site of the old playground)

  • Nine new shade sails

  • A new pathway linking with the existing path

  • New sandstone seating

  • New waste and recycling bins

  • A new accessible fountain with a dog bowl

  • A new flying fox

  • A new out-door fitness area (shaded)

  • A new playground (shaded)

This park upgrade is just a small part of the record investment that the Schrinner Council is making in our parks and public spaces all across Brisbane.
