Tilley Rd Speed Reduction Survey
Tilley Rd, Gumdale
I am proposing a reduction in speed on Tilley Road between Old Cleveland Road and Formosa Road at Gumdale from 70 km/hr to 60 km/hr.
You may be aware of the number of accidents that have occurred along this stretch of Tilley Road particularly at the intersection of Tilley Road and Grassdale Road.
Queensland Police records show there have been 27 reported accidents between 2021 and 2025 along this stretch of Tilley Road. These are only the accidents that were reported to the Queensland Police Service; however, I suspect the number is much higher.
You will be aware that Council recently completed Black Spot works at the intersection of Tilley and Grassdale Roads that included new tactile alert strips on Grassdale Road, refreshed line marking and a new flashing warning sign on the eastern approach of Grassdale Road.
Tilley Rd and Grassdale Rd Intersection, Gumdale
Despite this a number of incidents have occurred since the completion of these works that are directly related to vehicles travelling south up the blind crest on Tilley Road at the intersection of Tilley and Grassdale Roads.
Speed and reaction time are absolutely factors, which contribute to these incidents. Thus, I believe a speed limit reduction along this stretch will achieve additional safety benefits by providing extra warning time approaching the intersection.
I am now seeking your input on this proposal. Please scan the QR code at the bottom of this letter to provide your feedback by Friday 28 August 2026.
