One step closer to our Carindale doggy daycare centre

After three years of sitting untouched, the former Sizzler restaurant on the edge of Westfield Carindale is set to be revamped into a site that is beneficial for the local community.

In December 2021 a development application was submitted to Council to convert the abandoned lot into a doggy daycare and training facility.

This application has now been approved by Council and we are one step closer to having a local asset for our pet-loving community.

If you had told me 10 years ago a 60-space doggie daycare in the heart of Carindale was a viable business, I would have said you were dreaming. But here we are.

Everyone who was thinking about getting a dog during the pandemic ended up getting one, so there’s a lot more four-legged friends in our community

Once the developers obtain a building work permit we will begin to see the exciting transformation of a centre that will cater for up to 65 dogs to hopefully enjoy their own version of a salad bar.

I look forward to seeing this development unfold and witnessing how this small, local business will benefit our community of furry friends and their owners.

It will be sad to send off the Sizzler, but maybe Westfield will let us host one last cheese toast party for charity before it goes? The Sizzler may be gone, but the memories will remain.
