Carindale Recreation Reserve Stage 1 works begin!

I’m pleased to share the final concept plan for the Carindale Recreation Reserve upgrade and the start of initial works.

These initial works will take place from mid-May 2026 to late 2026, Monday to Saturday between 7am and 5pm, weather and site conditions permitting. This stage focuses on improving how people move into and around the park, laying the foundations for future upgrades.

Final concept plan and upcoming works

Works will include:

  • building a new 2‑lane park entry from Cadogan Street that provides a safer connection to the car park

  • removing the existing 1-lane park entry from Bedivere Street and returning this area to open parkland

  • expanding the car park with more spaces

  • upgrading and realigning shared paths

  • adding safer crossing points.

The park will largely remain open, with playgrounds, toilets and basketball courts available while works are underway. Vehicle access will also be maintained via the Bedivere Street entrance.

During works, residents and visitors may notice:

  • temporary path changes or short detours

  • construction machinery operating within fenced work zones

  • temporary intermittent parking changes

  • increased noise, dust and vehicle movement

  • fenced off site compound, laydown and construction areas

  • signage and traffic controllers to guide visitors safely.

Carindale Recreation Reserve

In order to complete these works, some vegetation will need to be removed. Council understands the importance of vegetation in this area and our works include replanting to ensure this important reserve retains its habitat value.

We know the reserve is home to koalas and other native wildlife and will use protection measures to keep them safe. Most trees within the reserve will be retained, but where removals are required, they will be carried out in stages and monitored by a qualified wildlife spotter‑catcher to ensure animals are protected during construction.

Future construction works are subject to the availability of future funding. We’re committed to keeping you and the community informed and will provide more information as the project progresses.
