2026/27 Council Budget in Chandler Ward
Council is like every household at the moment, trying to stay within our means, spending less where we can and more on the things that matter.
On things like local park upgrades, road resurfacing, more free and low-cost activities, all while maintaining the cheapest rates in southeast Queensland!

Carindale Recreation Reserve works begin 🚧🛝
The Schrinner Council is committed to delivering better parks that bring our community together and encourage everyone to enjoy Brisbane's wonderful outdoor lifestyle.
You may have noticed that work has recently begun on the Carindale Recreation Reserve Upgrade. This first stage focuses on improving access and connectivity throughout the park.
During last year's community consultation, a recurring concern was the awkward layout between the car park, playground, and toilets. These initial works will address this by delivering a new two-lane park entry from Cadogan Street, removing the existing single-lane entry from Bedivere Street to open up more parkland, adding additional car parking, and upgrading and realigning shared paths to make moving around the park easier and safer for all users.
Future upgrades — as funding becomes available — will include a multi-use riding track, an expanded and upgraded space-themed playground, new picnic shelters, electric BBQs, and a multi-use games area.
Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner and I are delighted to see this long-awaited park upgrade underway and look forward to officially opening the transformed space for the Carindale community to enjoy.

Tilley Rd Bikeway🚴♀️
Following strong community support during last year's consultation, I am pleased to announce that funding has been secured for detailed design works on the Tilley Road Bikeway Corridor.
This exciting project will create an active transport connection between Eastside Village shops in Gumdale and Mayfair Village in Manly West.
Originally proposed as a road, this bikeway is a far better outcome for the area — and one the whole community can enjoy.
Mansfield Safer Schools Precinct🚶♂️
Further funding has been secured for the Mansfield Safer Schools Precinct consultation, design and construction.
Council continues to consult with major stakeholders on the precinct plans, and once the final design is approved, broader community consultation will follow. We are committed to getting this right — taking the time to carefully consider every option rather than rushing a solution that may not address the issues effectively.
Thank you to the community for your ongoing patience and feedback.
Philips Pl Dog Park🐕
Great news for Wakerley's four-legged residents! Following requests from the community, I'm thrilled to announce that funding has been secured for the design and construction of a dedicated small dog off-leash area at Phillips Place Park.
This beloved local park is already a favourite among dogs and their owners, and this exciting new addition is sure to have tails wagging across the neighbourhood!
