Fishing Platform for Carmichael Park, Tingalpa

2018-05-17+16_19_34-Render.indd.png

A fishing platform is being installed at Carmichael Park in Tingalpa as part of the Active River Program. The platform will be installed where Bulimba Creek flows through Carmichael Park.

The new fishing platform will give keen fishermen a new opportunity to drop a line in Bulimba Creek, taking advantage of this quiet creek-side location that is already home to local cricket and soccer clubs.

The purpose of this project is to create opportunities for recreational enjoyment of our waterways for residents. The fishing platform structure will have a design life of 100 years,

The fishing platform will accommodate up to 10 fishermen at any one time, on the six-metre long, three-metre wide platform. The flood resilient concrete structure will be fixed to piles, rather than floating, and will feature a timber deck.

A fish cleaning table and reticulated water supply will also be available at the new facility to allow anglers to fillet their catch on-site.

Work began mid-May 2018 and is expected to be completed by the end of June 2018, weather and tide permitting.
