Murarrie Skate Park upgrade begins this week

In 2016, I announced a commitment to upgrade the existing Murarrie Skate Park.

I'm pleased to announce works to upgrade the Skate Park are anticipated to start in February 2018, weather and site conditions permitting.

The upgrade is part of Council’s commitment to creating new lifestyle and leisure opportunities and delivering vibrant, liveable communities.

The upgrade to Murarrie Skate Park will enhance the existing facility by developing new and upgraded skate obstacles and transitions that cater for beginners to more advanced skaters.

The upgrade will also involve:

  • upgrading and refreshing the skate park, including existing obstacles and transitions, various

  • quarter pipes and roll-ins, moguls and jumps/ledges to enhance usability and flow

  • upgrading the old surface

  • addition of a half bowl

  • new seating in various locations surrounding the park

For safety reasons, the skate park is required to be closed for the duration of construction which is expected to be completed by mid-2018, weather and site conditions permitting.

Construction activities will be undertaken from 7am to 5pm Monday to Saturday. Residents and businesses will be notified if any out-of-hours works are required. No changed traffic conditions are expected as a result of this project. However, traffic controllers will be on-site when required during construction to ensure a safe road environment for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians.

Council would like to apologise to residents and skate park users for any inconvenience caused during this time and thank them for their patience while these upgrade works are undertaken.
