One of the many exciting aspects of the 2021-2022 Budget is the Meadowlands Road Corridor Extension.

Tens of thousands of vehicles travel on Meadowlands Road every day, it's a critical arterial for the Eastern suburbs.

This year's Council budget included funding for the detailed design of the future Meadowlands Road Corridor Extension.

The $500,000 project will progress connecting Meadowlands Road with New Cleveland Road via Dairy Swamp Road , allowing for better access and less congestion in the mornings and afternoons along Belmont Road.

The Bulimba Creek Bridge on Meadowlands Road will also be a point of focus for the project, as officers look at replacing and duplicating the bridge to allow for more and wider lanes for motorists and cyclists alike.

The road corridor upgrade will have many great benefits such as reducing rat-running through Gumdale and ensuring our roads are safer and more accessible for cyclists and pedestrians.

Council cares deeply about the local wildlife and environment, that’s why Council is going to ensure that this remains an environmentally sensitive project so surrounding habitats are not negatively impacted by works.

Keep an eye out for updates on this great project that will benefit thousands of local residents and beyond.

NOTE: In my Newsletter, the top photo is incorrectly captioned as the intersection of Baynes St, Preston Rd & Meadowlands Rd. It is the intersection of Bedivere St and Meadowlands Rd.
