Kerbside collection dates 2023

NOTICE: If you do not live in Chandler Ward (or the suburbs listed above) you can check Council’s website for kerbside dates up until July 2023 by clicking here. Dates after New dates will be listed after the next financial year begins.

Kerbside collection is back in Chandler Ward, this year starting in the first week of March.

The schedule can be found in the photo above or alternatively at the bottom of this article as well as some quick collection guidelines and acceptable items list.

For those that are new or are unfamiliar with kerbside collection, it’s Council’s large item collection service that gathers unwanted household items that are often too big for wheelie bins (and too hard to take to the tip).

Simply place the items for collection on the kerbside in-front of your home the weekend before your collection starts.

Items have to be on the kerb by 6am at the start of the collection period, as this is when trucks come to collect.

Kerbside Collection Guidelines

When putting items out for collection on the kerb, it’s always important to remember:

  • to keep your piles of items tidy on the kerb - make sure the footpath and roadway are clear

  • Council will not collect piles larger than two cubic metres (equal to a small box trailer load)

  • to remove doors from refrigerators and cupboards

  • to not leave sharp or dangerous items on the footpath

  • that items must be able to be easily and safely lifted by two people

  • to secure items if severe weather is expected.

Acceptable Kerbside Items

It’s important to note that Council only collects acceptable items placed on the kerb. If items remain seven days after your kerbside collection period has ended, illegal dumping fines may apply. The list of acceptable items can be found below:

  • Bath and laundry tubs

  • Bicycles and sporting equipment

  • Carpets and rugs

  • Electronic waste (televisions, computers, phones)

  • Furniture and white goods (fridges, stoves)

  • Small household appliances (fans, toasters)

  • Wood products less than 1.5m

More Information

If you have any items in a usable condition, I would encourage you to donate the item to friends, family or even a local charity who may be able to recycle goods for those less fortunate.

A list of local charities that you can donate these items to can be found at the bottom of Council’s page on kerbside collection here.

I wish the best of luck to everyone cleaning out and hope that it all goes well! Happy clean out season!
