Work on the Wakerley Sports Park has met another milestone, with the Wynnum and Manly District Meals on Wheels making the move from Tingal Road, Wynnum into their new building.

The Meals on Wheels kitchen is a key component of the new community facility being built at 880 Manly Road, Wakerley.

The new kitchen will be able to deliver hot, fresh meals to tens of thousands of potential clients in Brisbane's Eastern suburbs.

Stage 2 of the $7.2M project involves construction of six state-of-the-art netball courts and fitout of the building undercroft for Netball Queensland.

Netball Queensland have undertaken to enter into a lease with Council to run the netball courts in a similar arrangement to Council's pools and other community leases.

As one of the fastest growing girls sports in the nation, netball on Brisbane's bayside is the big winner out of Council's investment.

So too, Wakerley residents will benefit from the additional community meeting space which will become available for hire once Wynnum and District Meals on Wheels are fully operational onsite.
