Council builds new park in Wakerley

BEHAN CRESCENT PARK - CONSTRUCTION WILL COMMENCE ON MONDAY 2 NOVEMBER 2015

BEHAN CRESCENT PARK - CONSTRUCTION WILL COMMENCE ON MONDAY 2 NOVEMBER 2015

Prior to the last Council election, I committed to upgrading parks and play equipment in your part of Wakerley. I am pleased to advise that this commitment will soon be fulfilled.

When the area was originally subdivided, four parks were installed but only two of these parks had equipment installed. (Tallis Street and McCormack Place) The others remained vacant.

Last year, Council provided funds to construct the Lockyer Street Park and this year, we will construct Behan Crescent Park, off Gordon Crescent.

Behan Crescent Park will receive a total of $122,000 in funding from the 2015-2016 Council budget, which will ensure the park provides new facilities for local residents.

This upgrade will include:

  • A play fort with climbing wall and slide

  • A swing set

  • A motorbike spring toy

  • Activity touch panels

  • Additional seating

  • Tree planting

  • Landscaping

This project means all four parks east of Arenga Street, south of Manly Road and north of Basella Street will be upgraded, providing you with the best possible choice between the different play areas.

Construction of Behan Crescent Park will commence Monday 2 November 2015, weather permitting.

Currently the park features a seat and a path, so this upgrade will greatly improve the usability of the area for local residents and visitors.
