Mt Petrie Rd Park Opportunities Plan

As Mackenzie and surrounding areas continue to grow, it is important to ensure that our parks continue to meet the recreational needs of residents.

Council conducted consultation with Mackenzie residents in late 2021 to help create a shared vision for Mt Petrie Rd Park that will provide a framework to guide the future of the park in keeping with the heritage of the area and the community values and needs.

The consultation saw 75 responses from the community that were received online and at the onsite information kiosk.

Feedback showed that people mostly used the park daily for recreation, relaxation, picnics, informal exercise and to enjoy the natural environment and gardens.

Feedback advised that the community would like to see more formalised walking tracks, seating and picnic facilities.

Council has now collated the feedback from the community and has prepared an opportunities plan for Mt Petrie Rd Park to enhance the features of this beautiful natural space.

Mt Petrie Rd Park Opportunities Plan includes additional proposed features such as:

  • formalised walking track

  • park seating

  • picnic facilities

  • formalised areas to view the water body

  • nature-themed sculptural elements

These features are subject to future funding and further investigations.

I encourage locals to provide their feedback on this plan either by contacting my office or contacting the project team via email: parks@brisbane.qld.gov.au or Council’s Call Centre on 3403 8888 (ask to speak with the Mount Petrie Road Park project team).
